John B 106
I thought I'd be able to go out an buy one of these to replace the aged one on my boat but I'm not having any luck finding em. I see PSS seals works out of Blenhiem? and that might be an option.

John B 106
Thanks for that Wheels, I've been up down and sideways on the net and not been able to discover that. Unfortunately their prices have doubled in the last 6 months and its even a shock to me , a hardened marine consumer. I'll have to find an alternative product.. a shaft seal should be $600 or a k... not 2.
wheels 543
WHAT!?!?!!? You did tell them you just wanted the part and not the entire backend of the boat surely?
wheels 543
I am assuming the bronze and carbon face are worn and leaking. So are they not two replacable parts?? I can not believe it is that expensive. It's just a couple of rubber boots and those two parts. that is unbelievable.
John B 106
Hold the phone.. I think they've come through for me. I'll let you know tomorrow. No its not leaking but it's unknown age and if you read the specs on most of the variants they have warnings that they( dripless seals in general) need to be replaced every X number of years. 6 years is one for example" regardless of visual condition". wheels 543
Nahhh, just give it a good look over. You are looking for rubber perishing as the first major. stretch the rubber out and look for cracks. with only 6 yrs I doubt you will have an issue with much wear. They can do big hrs. But check the faces anyway. And check the water tubes are clean and clear. That is the major area that can cause a failure. Replace the hose clamps whether they need it or not. John B 106
Might be 10 or 15 years old for all I know Wheels, I've had the boat 3 1/2. Anyway, AES came through for me , a pleasure to deal with. Evidentally whats happened is the manufacturer in the UK has decided to just double the price so all new stock is that.
