I begrudgingly accept that New Zealand is the worlds best Rugby Union team.

However...I have been racking my brains to think what else they are good at?

Any Nobel Peace Prizes? Any world changing inventions?

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing, as simply messing about in boats

Rutherford went to Primary School just down the road from me, in the little Town of Havelock.
Another very famous Kiwi, also schooled at Havelock Primary, was Bill Pickering. He was the Kiwi lad that was the head of JPL and then NASA till his retirement in 1976. He was also a founding member of the USNAE
Other World famous Kiwis I can think of, (I apologise if I have any spelling wrong)
Maurice Wilkins (Nobel prize)
Richard Pearce. Of course we Kiwis believe he was the first to fly, but the Wright Brothers got the honor of first controlled light. Which I think is bollocks, because they basically crashed landed too.
And while on flying, Jean Batten.

Obvioulsy, Sir Ed Hillary
Bruce McClaren
Denny Hulme
Possum Bourne
Oh yeah, one you Ozy's would think is yours...but isn't, John Clark
Dr Brian Basset-Boyes. he pioneered heart bypass surgery.
Dr Harold Gillies and Dr Achibald McIndoe, both Pioneers of plastic Surgery
Dr Fred Hollows, eye Doc.
Colin Murdoch...he invented the disposable hypodermic Syringe and the Tranquilizer Gun
Professor Alan McDiarmid. Basically developed Silicon Chemistry and without his work, we would not have transistors etc.
Bill Hamilton...Among several impressive accomplishments, he was the inventor of the Jet Boat.
Bill Gallagher...invented the electric fence.
James Wattie.
Kate Shepard
AJ Hackett, inventor of the bungy jump
Peter Jackson
Kathrine Mansfield
JK Baxter...I think he was world famous
Charles Goldie
Charles Upham
Lieutenant General Bernard Fergusson
Chief Air Marshall Kieth Clark. The man that is considered to have been the person that saved England during WW2. He Commanded the Royal Airforce.
Then we have our Sailors
Peter Blake
Russel Couts
Our Musicians,
The Finn Brothers with Crowded House and Split Enz
Dragon.
Dame Kiri Te Kanawa
John Rolls
I know many Kiwi Musicians/Singers went to Oz, bit don't know how big they made it.
And finally the only other one I can think of is BP,s  guy Russel Crow.
