Anyone got a 'spare' boom for a 930 lying around? Wild Oats would like a one piece version.... the two piece experiment proved to be slower on the second half of the Gold Cup race.....

Slower . . . .? Could the speed reduction be described as "catastrophic"?

Lower speed reduction than the last time I lost a mast. Let's say it was "significant" in slowing our progress. Still hit 10 knts on jib (brand new sail, a nice black #3) down the back of Waiheke but not sure that configuration was right for the tight reach back to town.

I've got one I am going to replace it due to it's weight. I don't need a vang it's that heavy, which is a real bitch in the light.

I'll probably make a new carbon one.

By the time you relaunch the Reptile Knot Me.... Carbon will be old school and there will be a new wonder material!

Got your message thing but buggered if I know how to respond to it via Crew. There is some link but I don't have permission to use it so the page says.

See how your plan goes and let me know. You can use my boom as a fill in if you get caught, one would assume it has to be pretty similar to yours, gooseneck willing.

I started making a 1/2 scale mold last night to suss the viability of making a carbon boom. Shouldn't be too tricky, well see.
