So i met ‘Novi’ this afternoon, down visiting from whangarei. Lovely young lady was keeping an eye on things and took myself, a friend, and 3 toddlers down the ramp at westhaven to have a close look.
I asked if it was safe to clean my boat with the pair of them around. She was pretty cagey on response, but basically said dont get in water if you can see one, get out if you see one, but no reason not to get in if you cant see one.

I thought was OK advice actually. If I cant see one, Ill still clean the bottom. If one shows up, Ill just get out (and clean the sh*t out of my wetsuit)
Apparently too much effort to attack a big human with so many other good things to eat (fish, burds etc).

Yes, agreed. More likely to fall foul of other hazards but won't dwell on that as

I'll never clean my hull again.

Hold you nose and jump in!

Media stating they're back in Westhaven and there is two of them now...

But don't worry, NIWA are tracking them. I thought NIWA did weather, not large dangerous animals, but then I always thought Auckland Zoo did large dangerous animals and these two aren't in the zoo, oh don't get me started....

Went to the Westhaven breifing on Happy Teeth in 2016, the nice couple from DOC informed us not to worry she would head south come October.. no one told her, she went to Tutukaka and surrounding area seems to be very happy with marinas. And now brought a friend, one wonders who the owhas are now?
