Fogg 427
Baileys Brokers. Who will place you with best insurer for your location, usage and price. Which might be QBE or Lumley or NZI (less likely) Quality outfit (MD Neil Bailey is a sailor so 'gets it'). I work in insurance and I've given Baileys my yacht insurance for last 12 years.
BMW56 12
I'm with Youi. They were happy to insure on a swing mooring so long as the required inspections are kept up to date. Survey not required even though I had one. Policy looks reasonable and not much different to others I looked at. Price was very competitive a year ago. Haven't had to make a claim, so no experience there. Only downside is the salespeople are quite pushy - will try to insure your house, car, life & wife all on the same phone call. Just say no thanks unless you are interested.
southernman 73
PIC are good. We are using them for offshore insurance this coming season, hope we don't need them!
Nzgrant 19
PIC have told me they dont like 40 ft plus boats on moorings. Also it depends which mooring field you are in.
eruptn 95
If your a member of an afilliiated yacht club, YNZ offer a group scheme via AON, similar the the scheme operated by the NZTYA with AON for trailer yachts.
marinheiro 352
Note AON is a bróker, not an insurer. I gave up on them due to lack of service/interest and moved to Baileys
MarcusP 0
Not yet, but working on it. Looking for something in the Tamaki River around Half Moon Bay/Little Bucks if I can. I have a swing mooring for sale very close to Half moon bay yacht club and boat ramp. Contact me 0273397186.

Elliot749 28
I have my yacht Insurance with NZI , organised by friendly broker whom I've used to insure business / properties / vehicles. Very painless process , and I thought it quite cheap ( we didn't need cover for racing )
cj! 19
My focus is on value rather than just about price. How easy is it to claim and be paid out when it's needed is the acid test.
marinheiro 352
KM, is that new insurance the Ship Repairers Insurance? I reckon that is something the insurance industry dreamed up to squeeze yet more premiums, saying their general third party policies did not provide the coverage they had previously told you it did, and the marinas jumped at it for more CYA. At Sandspit there is a group policy which contractors pay (I think) $300 to sign on to.
Island Time 1,227
now thats a good idea! I have Ship repairers insurance - it's a couple of K per year, just to be able to get into the marinas
Black Panther 1,581
Good idea KM - user pays.
darkside 61
I'm insured through AON with Cunningham Lindsay. I had a claim for over $40k a couple of years back (hit a rock at some pace). They were great to deal with, prompt payout etc.
smithy09 50
Insured with Mariner. Never an issue. Had a big payment for a mast that crumpled a few years back. Prompt payment and no argument.
