Guest 000
There is another thread where broker performance was mentioned but I don't know where it is.. My No.1 son sold his boat recently and is Looking for a replacement vessel. So for the last few weekends he has been doing the rounds of Tauranga, Whangarei and Auckland looking for a suitable yacht of around 40 - 45 foot up to $170k. He is a cash buyer. He describes brokers in Tauranga as pretty good, Whangarei as exceptional and Auckland as abysmal. His experiences in Auckland are, being told by the broker not to waste his time unless serious, by another that he may show the boat at a time that suits him and not the purchaser, by another to be there exactly on time because he wont wait any more than two minutes, and my favorite by yet another broker, 'it's the weekend and and I can't be bothered.' My son is not given to exaggeration. So what gives with brokers in Auckland? Are the vendors aware of the manner in which these people are handling the sale of their vessels? My son is expanding his search down to the Marlborough Sounds area and has pretty much written off Auckland for the above reasons.
waikiore 398
Unfortunately I believe that his experience is not unique, the old school quality brokers in Auckland appear to have all left the industry, I could name 20 good ones from the eighties -but none active now. mcp 32
I am interested also. Have been given the cold shoulder in Auckland recently as well. By more than one broker.
Nzgrant 19
As a person with a boat for sale. It seems a real struggle to find a broker who is any good , let alone one who will tell you the truth. They seem to have caught the real estate agents disease, tell the vendor just what they want to hear and inflate the worth of the boat in order to get the listing and tell you that they will have no problem selling your boat. So you feel happy however as time goes on you never hear from them except an email every now and then suggesting that you review your price down.
MarkMT 68
Speaking of brokers, someone should tell Vinings that nearly 2 dozen TM listings they put up yesterday are missing all their photos. Don't people look at these things after they post them?
Zozza 293
What? I don't believe it! Marine related bad customer service?
cj! 19
I saw that too when I was looking last night so I just went to their site. Bit of a fail though.
chariot 242
Worst customer service i have had was giving a V drive gearbox to an agent for repair. Went in as a V drive, when i went to pick it up, it was a straight drive. Long story short it ended up in court. Surprisingly it was judged the i owed them no money for repairs made.
