Yes comrades, as my best mate Sir Michael Cullen said, those rich pricks (especially the ones with boats) can pay (p.s. sorry all you poor voters, you get screwed too).

The 'poor voters', especially the ones without boats are probably a whole lot more screwed than the ones with boats.

Well, your thought is obviously flawed then.

Diesel is $1.44 here today.
The Oil companies say the the reason us falling dollar and a rise in the cost of production squeezing margins.

Maybe you should move north to the 09 wheels.  ;-)

The wonderful supercity up here where I filled up tonight had diesel for the bargain basement price of $1.14...

But we are a dollar a ltr more expensive IB.
And the only reason they Diesel seems cheap is because the taxes are set in a separate Road Users charge licence fee.

Anyone else thinking that this is just profiteering?

The crusher effect is gone, so it's open slather on the motorists.

I don't buy the exchange rate argument at all, the NZX seems to be firing on all cylinders, and the dollar is still doing pretty well.

Commentators seem to be pleasantly surprised that the economy hasn't seen any major upsets since the election.
