Has anyone filled tanks There? Are the fittings the same? If not what did you do?

Different fittings, some eurotrash thing, maybe a good gas fitter could do an adapter?

I was afraid of that. We're hoping to be there all winter so will definitely need to top up.

It shouldn't be hard to suss what fitting it is and get an adapter here. If our local Hammer Hardware has a big range one should be easy to find......once you know which one you want.

I needed one for mine, easy as to find and only $15 odd.

Tanks are meant to have an EU stamp of some kind on them but if in date they seemed to ignore for yachts  same with dive tanks, most nz tanks dont have that stamp..  that was a few years back worth checking ...

From Noonsite LPG (gas)

Gas bottles are no longer allowed to be refilled in New Caledonia. Only butane is available.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing, as simply messing about in boats

Seems I can get a butane tank there, next question - what happens if you put butane through the existing regulator?

They don't  have LPG in Neiafu but would fill your bottle with butane. Locals and other boaties seemed to think it would do no damage to existing fittings . Some guys got it but I didn't as I just wanted a 1/2 bottle top up , they'd have to dump all the LPG to refill with the other.

I seem to recall a comment about it burning slightly hotter.

Fiji has LPG ok, we just topped up in savusavu. Turns out we get 90 days out of 9 kg.... dunno if thats good  or not but its easy for this old barsteward to remember.

Interesting to know about New Cal. looks like another swappa bottle in our future then.

Butane works fine in LPG stoves, hotter and faster - higher calorific value. LPG in a butane stove though is SLOW....
