Fish 0
Mike Hosking should be shot. Anyway, didn't he resign after National 'lost' the election? He definitely needed counselling.

Kevin McCready 83
I saw the interview on the unmentionable's program. Good interview and messaging. Sorry they couldn't save his stuff in the raft. How many would sail solo with the hatch open like that? Why wasn't his VHF charged?
JK 28
His VHF wasn't charged as it had turned itself on in the grab bag & discharged itself.
Fish 0
And, he said he was checking the content of his grab bag monthly, including that the VHF was in good order. So he was taking 'all practical measures' and was understandably a bit pissed off when he found it was flat.
Kevin McCready 83
Ta for VHF info that it turned itself on. Must be a weird model. Mine is ICOM VHF Marine Transceiver IC-M33 and it would be almost impossible for it to turn on by mistake because the on button needs to be depressed into the housing. Priscilla II 392
How the hell does that full blown twit Mike Hosking manage to force his bloated egotesticle bullshit into the living rooms of this country. For christ's sake he is just a introducer of news clips, not even a properly trained journalist. On a $mil or more. His verbal diarrhea in granny Herald is simply a daily joke. Tantrum over for now. Back to the Townson recently lost. The skipper comes across as a pretty switched on guy and his comment about the value of the liferaft safety course he attended is a timely reminder that being in a upside down raft and being able to right it needs to be practiced beforehand.
John B 106
My vhf has a turn off/ on and I've found it discharged before now. Accidentally turned on. Good to know what went wrong, a lot of talk about the mast hopping out of the step and robin hooding down through the hull, but now we know the truth, a chainplate failure . Good to know, Unlike two other fatal boating accidents being sat on by the authorities, How long does it take to write a report? ANSWER .. LONG ENOUGH that everyone has forgotten about it . Except perhaps the people who sail on the sea and who would like to know , so they can safeguard against something similar happening to them and theirs.
Luigi Vercotti 7
Has anyone had any experience with Cav 32 chain plates? They're glassed in and impossible to inspect in-situ.
