Confidence that Auckland Council will do the right thing has risen under Phil Goff.

From 19% to 20%

What a load of bollocks.

I'm loving Mayor Goff's comments on it though (from the election campaign):

"When less than one in five have confidence in Council, that's a fail," said then-mayoral candidate Phil Goff.

"Satisfaction with the Council's performance - across the board - is at rock bottom. The Council is viewed by many as a bloated and unwieldy bureaucracy which ignores the views of Aucklanders while presiding over soaring rates and debt," Mr Goff said in a media release on the survey result.

Nothing like doing something about it. Or just rolling over, having you belly tickled by the CCO's, and putting the dolphin in when you said you wouldn't.

Their solution to increasing 'trust & confidence' isn't to do what they said they would do, not to run secret agenda's, and not to pander to the CCO's, but to spend more on communications....

But I still can't work out whats wrong with the Council. I think I should commission an independent report from some Consultants, maybe they know why no-one trusts the Council...

I wonder what sort of confidence people have now that the Harbour Bridge is getting all lit up with $10million worth of colourful LED lights to make it look pretty.

I think Vector are paying for that?

I consider Confidence and Auckland Council to be mutually exclusive.

Should be renamed Auckland Corruption.

Call me a cynic but doesn't the Auckland City Council have a group of extremely well paid spin doctors on staff.

That way they don't actually have to please anyone,  they can simply issue press releases patting themselves and their leaders on the back while remaining oblivious to the true public sentiment and a whole generation that has not been taught to question authority read the headline and believe it must be true..........

Holy crap 245 of them with an operating budget of 45 million!

Given those numbers one would have to treat any announcement about anything council related with a healthy does of scepticism.

And  spin doctor is such a PC term for these people,  they are in fact turd polishers. :wtf:

245 comms staff at Council - Holy f*ck!

How many staff does the leading media outlets employee?
The newspapers would have less than that nationally. The main TV channels?

Council Comms staff must outnumber proper journalists 2 to 1 in Auckland.

$45 million dollars - each year....

Don't worry about actual services, spend all the money polishing turds.

Damn that's made me grumpy.

I wonder how many Comms staff are at Watercare, Auckland Transport, Ports of Auckland, Punuku and ATEED that aren't counted in the 245 staff at Council.

I'd hazard a guess they still use outside agencies on top of all that as well.
