Must say I'm surprised at the number of boats that have bailed due to this impending huff n puff. Spoke to 2 yesterday who seem terrified at the thought they maybe out there when it passes over. I know one carries a mooring system rather than a anchor system so it would be good in a Class 5 let alone this approaching oversized yet enthusiastic fart in comparison.

All seems a but weird as a good blow can be fun if your prepared well and does make the Xmas cruise a better 'work story'. You can hunker down with a pack of cards and bottle of rum.... or if your lucky some hot chick and chocolate body paint. Anything but bail out......unless you have small kids maybe, stuck on a boat with them gets tedious after a couple of days.

At least it's cooler, yesterday was a bitch.

Good chance to get some diesel and water and restock the beer, at Gulf Harbour.  I'm all for the easy options...

I've been pondering the best parking spot to sit out a blow like this one. Several forecasts predict gusts of 60 knts NE, then going around NW and filling in westerly on Friday.

What would your preferred spot be KM?
Izzy Bay?
North cove on Kawau (if you can tuck up around the moorings)
My preferred spot would be to anchor somewhere nice and sheltered like the Weiti River, then I thought I could just use my mooring, which takes all the fun out of it.

Several Bays in Port Fiztroy, Barrier, would be good.

Where are you parked now BP?

I see someone has nicked one of your masts, shortened it and and painted your boat white. Looks awfully like a motor sailor now....

That's the guy who we rent from. We are at GH. It was supposed to be one day but looks like we'll be lucky to get out tomorrow late.

I wouldn't have thought there was anywhere you could tuck into in Mahurangi that was sheltered enough from the North and West.
