Just now we are berthed right in the centre of Tilburg. Adjacent to us is a bar/cafe called the Burgenmeester Jansen. They have 44 different beers on tap and over 150 in bottles.
And we only have this free berth for 3 days..

Did you get through a few of the beers Chris?

I wandered into the New World over the road from work and found this the other day, (they won brewer of the year last year and must have now scaled up from doing 50L batches to 1200L batches), bloody good, not a strong anise taste but like an easy drinking Tripel.  Have the Zest one in the fridge waiting for another day.

looks good

afaik

bottle conditioned

means the beer wasn't filtered

so the remains of the brewing yeast will continue to subtly improve that part of the flavour for up to 2? years

perhaps though

at the expense of any fresh hop flavours

they seem best as soon as the carbonation is complete

WO!

just having a tipple from a 750ml grolsch bottle filled at the local liquorland

TDOTD_IA.png?v=1510551706

WHAT IS IT?

It's a lager, but definitely not as we know it.

Triple Day of the Dead.

Black lager inspired by the Aztec beverage xocolatl - this batch brewed extra strong with smoked chipotle chili, cocoa and agave, then aged for over a year in freshly emptied Tequila barrels, and finished on raw cocoa nibs.

Incredibly rich and dark, Triple Day of the Dead possesses a uniquely complex mix of spice, oak, smoke chocolate and restrained chili heat.

A true celebration of the dark side.

Oof, 12%, 750ml of that would be more than enough!

Was it as good as the advertising?

Guessing you got it from LL Newmarket?  I don't like how you can't have a 'try before you buy' with their filling system.

I had one of these last night - http://www.mikesbeer...=01413_1.html

Good but given there are so many to try I wouldn't buy it again.

oohh, that vanilla porter does look good

yes, newmarket LL, last week was supping their garage project baltic porter, aged in bourbon barrels

Still_IA_92b5b31e-42ee-4aef-9d3e-1dc07c1

putting it in my own 750ml bottle brings the exorbitant price down to about $18

so they're only rare treats and rarely repeated

kereru imperial nibs also excellent, love that hint of coconut;o)

Tried this last night.

Liberty Prohibition Porter, 13.5%

Good lordy, that is a glass of tasty goodness!

The brewer should pat himself on the back for turning out that one.
