Westhaven Marina Day - Sunday afternoon -

Greetings all

 

Hope to see Westhaven forumites (and forumites from other parts of Auckland at Marina Day on Sunday afternoon. 

 

Here is the info we sent out to customers yesterday. There are 60+ activities in total. 

 

 

Here is a taste of what’s on offer. All activities (and the sausage sizzle!) are free but bring a few dollars in case you’d like to buy something special. 

  • All aboard the Maritime Police's flagship vessel, Deodar 3, Coastguard's Lion, and the new Customs ship, Hawk V
  • A special kids fishing experience with Legasea (the only day of the year you can fish at Westhaven!) 
  • Boat tours aboard the Ponsonby Cruising Club’s Watchman 
  • A ride on a Sealegs amphibious craft 
  • Try sailing, kayaking and SUP (and go into the draw to win a Phoenix Kayak, Coastguard membership and Hutchwilco lifejacket!) 
  • Find out about joining a race crew with the PCC
  • A tuk-tuk ride on the Westhaven Promenade! 
  • Meet Auckland Council's biosecurity dogs 
  • Visit a cruising yacht and talk to the owners about the cruising lifestyle 
  • Learn about Owha the Leopard Seal from the people that know her best
  • Learn about FishCare and Kia Ika, with LegaSea 
  • Bouncy castle, face painting, and balloons for kids 
  • Buy unique items from the Buoy Cafe Craft Market and the Marine Jumble Sale 
  • Learn bike skills with Auckland Transport 
  • Look at e-Bikes with the FatBikeShop 
  • Visit the America's Cup at its home, the RNZYS 
  • Get updated on Westhaven Plan projects
  • Find out about environmental initiatives to improve water quality at Westhaven and surrounding areas

Park in the white zones and you'll be fine Grant! Unless you have a berthholder permit. As for Owha, well she'd definitely be a crowd pleaser. We'll add her to the invite list. 

 

How about you stop putting nasty letters on berth renters windows, accusing them of parrking then walking to work, when you have absolutely zero evidence.

Your harassment of berth renters with the required permit displayed on their window, leaves a lot to be desired.

The parking matter from a different angle.

Damned difficult to get any parking competing with the Jesus freaks at the PCC and the coffee scoffers at the Bouy.

Ticketing may cost the offenders $$$ but one group will reckon it's God's will and the other lot will just think the coffee is just a tad more expensive.

Towing obviously returns less to the Council coffers but as a berth holder it would be nice to be able to park a lot closer to my princess.

Furthermore how does the to be developed building platform mitigate the loss of the existing carparks.
