Squeaky floor

Recommended Posts

You mean the cabin sole?

It squeaks because it moves . Locate it generally , use something like dishwashing liquid soap to find exactly the spot and eliminate the movement as much as you can. When I went hunting one I tried all sorts but turned out to be just one corner of one board  that was chafing.

After that go to a wax stick from an auto parts shop .

I had squeaky floorboards where they were rubbing against one another and the cabinetry in the boat.

I marked everywhere there was chafe, noted how tight it was in each spot then took them out and cut 1-2mm off from each chafing spot. This worked well.

I cut them using a straight edge, a few clamps and a router with a copy cutter. Worked well.

Before cutting them down I tried the fastmount system and it made the sqeaking worse in some places.
