Hope Chrisc and the Admiral have a great experience. 

 

You all likely know this, but for the newbies among you, I'd suggest you 

do a charter before you take the canal boat ownership plunge.

All the very best Chrisc.

 

Seems things have changed a lot since I cruised the canals and rivers in Europe in the 80s. I had no sailing/motoring qualifications and completed the Canal du Midi twice and the Med to the North sea via the Rhone, Soane, and Rhine twice, all in a Dufour 29 with a 14 hp Volvo. The canals and Rivers are amazing. So much to see and experience!
