it's not that there is a lower decile, and that should be clear

it's there are no jobs for them

it's a problem for society because they feel, and to a large extent are, excluded

become depressed, prescription drugs, illegal drugs etc

https://www.drugabus...entanyl-problem

guess where any more money you give them would go?

and if they avoid the illegals

booze, gambling, smokes

+ other short term highs like

oily, sweet, salty junk food

leading to people overweight, prone to type 2 diabetes + high blood pressure

so giving them more money isn't the answer either

the issue isn't going away

and is likely to increase as the modern world gets more complex more rapidly

how soon before self-driving trucks?

already the easier fields in law are under threat from online services

and AI will soon threaten higher? fields of law like barristers when a program can grasp the situation and popup the 100 most relevant legal precidents

Don't get your point at all . .

There are many jobs for disabled people . .

And I personally know and assist (a bit) some of the noble souls that make it happen.

And it gets done in NZ too, of course.

if a country or company is running efficiently overall

it can afford a little inefficiency in 1 area

when the nz economy was high on the sheep's back in the 50's

it set up, and could afford, a very generous social welfare system

when this economic boom started tapering off in the 60's lots of controls had to be enacted to keep the system going

when the uk joined the eu in 1972 our major export market collapsed

to keep the generous welfare + gov. job sector afloat the gov borrowed heavily overseas

because of public wealth we had private poverty, so increasing taxation wouldn't work

in the 1980's people were becoming frustrated by the over-bearing economic controls and voted in labour

labour discovered the country was near bankrupt and had to dismantle the HUGE gov payroll while removing the controls to allow the country to smarten up and become internationally competitive

suddenly you could buy a new car

you could become a taxi driver without bidding for a licence

you could borrow large amounts to open a company

you could trade overseas without mind numbing paperwork applications

the dollar was floated

but post offices closed

the rail yards downsized

car assembly plants closed down

.............

and it had to happen

people and money are becoming more + more mobile

and will flow to where they are rewarded

.....

so yeah, if a company or country is doing well

it can afford some 'make work'

but if 10-20% of the jobs are 'make-work'

the company + economy suffer

and the most productive people + companies leave

nz knows the flow to australia well

as the canadians + mexicans know the flow to the usa

......

if all countries could standardise their tax approaches to companies and wealth

productive people + companies would be less likely to leave

how can we do this without the cure being worse than the disease?

nash game theory

predicts people, companies and countries

will work for their own best gain

all the evidence we have supports that

a totalitarian world state

looks the only way to force everyone to accept individual losses of choice + freedom for the greater good

what could possibly go wrong?

well for 1

nz being a wealthy country (and oz, usa, canada, uk, etc)

would start taxing its people + companies hugely

and sending most of the money overseas to less advantaged countries

it would be the only fair thing to do on a wrold scale

There are many jobs for disabled people . .

Are we talking Intellectually disabled, or Physically. It has become very hard here for the Intellectually disabled to operate. Simply because having to pay IHC a minimum wage, OSH and the compliance costs of running a business, has forced many organisations to close their doors.

Peterson is also particularly appealing to disaffected young men. He’s become a lifestyle guru for men and boys who feel displaced by a world where white male privilege is under attack; his new best-selling book, 12 Rules for Life, is explicitly pitched as a self-help manual, and he speaks emotionally of the impact his work has had on anxious, lost young men.

Jordan Peterson, then, isn’t just some random professor who managed to strike it rich. He’s emblematic of the way white male anxiety is producing new and powerful political movements across the West today.

It all makes sense now :)

Yeh - because quoting an openly leftwing american op-ed website to discredit someone on the right is entirely sensible!

Vox is left bias according to US opinion https://www.allsides...news-media-bias but that makes it hard right of ghengis khan in NZ :)

He is also known as the professor of piffle, in time he will be proven to be yet another shameless self promoter, family values included.

https://thewalrus.ca...sor-of-piffle/

What he is not, however, is the author of any lasting work of scholarship, the originator of any important idea, or a public intellectual of any scientific credibility or moral seriousness. Peterson’s sole discovery is that “postmodernism” can be usefully exploited alongside the more familiar, established populist scare tactics. His message, as the intellectual guru of the alt-right, is that humanity’s natural hierarchies are under attack, that the future of Western civilization hangs in the balance of this “war of ideas.”

but wait there's more!

The academic believes violent men can be cured by the love of a good woman through enforced monogamy. And he can’t understand why people are laughing at him?

I cant understand it either!

the challenge for those who dislike his science

is to debunk it scientifically

....

a lot of charles darwin's biology theories

horrified the 'educated' classes of the day

and took 100? years of scientific findings to become widely accepted

he didn't appear to get it ALL right

the challenge to those who hated einstein's physics

was to debunk it scientifically

it's taken almost 100 years of experiments for most of it to be accepted

he doesn't appear to have gotten it ALL right

personal attacks from those who don't like the findings

are kind of irrelevant

we're not asking a critic for a literary review of a novel

we're trying to understand how people 'work'

can you imagine trying to make this work with 100 new people a year?

"erice" you are so wrong about the low decile group using drugs etc unable to work.  If you look at the top end of society who are protected ,they are the ones using top Cocaine/heroin etc They are the ones making/feeding off the under ground drug dealers. One qsm who died recently was well known for defending dealers etc but could never be touched himself, Pulls out of a white island race to fly to England asap to defend his receptionist, why??

need to be looking further up the ladder, these top lawyers are not just making money defending these guys they are defending doing back room deals for a reason.

Erice his twaddle is not science. Not even close. And I don't have to debunk him. I'll just ignore him.

Two figures sat side by side, staring at the Sea. One said to the other, “You know that one day we will die.” And the other friend replied, “But all of the other days WE WILL LIVE!”
