Bilge alarm

Recommended Posts

Talk to Steve H, he set something like that up after exactly the same thing happened.

Also Burnsco had something that attached to the battery terminals, but I suspect that was just a low battery alarm.

Get a car burglar alarm that has GSM. Connect a float switch to one of the zone triggers and away you go! Our freezer has been switched off by others disconnecting the power in the past when we have been away from the boat on the hard. (One of those acts that make you think homicide..) so I now have a 5v "wall wort" plugged into the 240v that triggers the alarm via a relay. The moment the power goes off, the relay closes and I ring the yard. A VSR also switches over to battery so all good until the mains go back on.

The SMS2 unit above is 3G/4G, GSM is general message service...

Really?

The GSM logo is used to identify compatible devices and equipment. The dots symbolize three clients in the home network and one roaming client.[1]

That’s what Neil, the guy who designs and makes these things tells me. I’d only heard it refer to that network before as well. But Neil assured me that the unit takes both 3G and 4g sims. There is likely a message standard within the providers I guess, but I can find out if it’s that important for anyone.

A lot of the cheap 3g/4g modems from China don't work here.  We have just had a supplier to us pull out 200 modems out of gear supplied to us that does not work on either Voda, Spark or 2 Degrees.
