A camera has been setup on a nearby disused tower, it is really blowing.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

PW shows a fair bit of breeze at Carolina Beach.

One model shows some right up there numbers but the other 3 while still being up there aren't quite what the news seems to be forecasting. Not that I'd be that keen to be just off that coast at the moment.

Did you know that one of the Carolinas banned govt departments from mentioning climate change and cancelled works to protect the foreshore coz there's no such thing?

Was in a cylone in 1991 up in Western Samoa, cyclone Val. The thing that puts the sh..ts up you is the noise. It is like a jumbo jet parked outside the window. Just when you think it cant increase in strength, it winds up a bit more. I was on land, would hate to have been at sea. One Aussie trawler in the area was lost.

Sussing the current wind and 24hrs of history I am left wondering why to be a Hurricane anywhere in the world means 64kts plus but in the US a hurricane seems to be about the same strength as good weather to throw your kid in an Opti. The most I can find is 54kts and that was very localised for less then 15mins.

America, if you call that a Hurricane the world is right, you are a bunch of limp softcocks.

Now if you want real weather go to the Philippines, they current have some.
