Crazyhorse 47
Another reason to avoid raymarine..
harrytom 640
Hmm so have you contacted R/M??and their response was??
mattm 98
That’s happening a lot to that model, or models with that mic cord, bad design, or bad choice of materials at least. I think originally there was a way of sorting it with a new mic and cord, not any more. I’ve never really understood the hype of Raymarine, other than good marketing, they have nothing over Garmin or B&G stuff. Their tiller pilots are good, no better than Simrad though. Actually their pilots in general were good, but I always found their plotters a pain in the backside.
bigal.nz 59
I have read several threads on various places that rubbish Raymarine, B&G, Garmin etc etc etc. I think overall everyone's experiences differ. and it becomes personal preference at the end of the day. How old is that radio?

Crazyhorse 47
Was on special at Steves Marine 1211 from memory, so well out of warranty. Of interest, the transceiver thats stuck under it is a Alinco 2m transceiver, mic cord perfect and bought in 1992!!!
Dtwo 157
If it is still working, wrap it in rescue tape. I've done it to my Icoms, which have the same issue, I wonder if they were made by the same manufacturer.
Crazyhorse 47
Yep done that thanks DTh used self amalgamating tape, as you can see on the cable from the mic, looks messy. Will pull it apart one rainy day and replace it.
