Island Time 1,227
Seatalk NG IS nmea2000. You can buy a device net cable (about $50) or cut the raymarine drop cable plug off and splice on a micro c. If you want to extend a backbone, this is what you have to do. I've done one boat like this this week, 2 more to go. Let me know if you need any parts.
180S 20
Is there adifference in the loads I seem to remember I had to remove one of the end loads off the Nmea2000 net because the AP (TP32 ) was internally loaded ?
Island Time 1,227
You can overload a NMEA2000 bus, but its unusual in boats the size of ours though. You can have up to 50 devices on one bus! Basic rules are Bus max length 100m Drop Cables max 6m (max drop cable combined length 78m) Power should be near middle of network. Ground bus in only 1 location! You MUST have a terminator at each end! ONLY 2! If removing something on your network allowed the AP to function, I suggest the network had/has an issue. The TP series do NOT have an internal terminator if that is what you meant. The only device that Navico do (B&G, Simnet and Lowrance) that DOES have an internal terminator is the wired masthead wind transducer.
