What could possibly go wrong?

Recommended Posts

It's not the battery power that worries me, it's the autonomous nature thing. Just one person aboard would at least allow some direct input should the damn thing go offline and charge through down an old wooding rowing boat that for some reason or other is unable to manoeuvre.

In this case it seems to be in harbour limits all the time, or at least constricted waters. None the less, if this thing fails to pick up a vessel that is supposed to be the give way vessel, but one which has not given way. I see issues. Remember you are only allowed maintain course and speed et. as the stand on vessel until it's clear that other has not made a move to avoid. If you stand on to the point of collision, you're also at fault.

Given the huge size of manned container ships, I'm not sure they could change direction or stop (or see a small boat from the bridge) once it became obvious the other boat wasn't moving to avoid collision?

Unless the ship absorbs emissions how can it be Zero Emission?

Well, I assume they're charging it using hydropower? It's Norway, after all. So, i guess then one has to decide if the emissions used to build the ship and the power plant, are to be included in the calculations...
