khayyam 68
wow. anybody know how they power the foil control? and all the rest, come to that. one guy doing a bit of cursory grinding occasionally isn't going to get you very far i shouldn't think.
Priscilla II 392
Banque Populaire was capsized of Morocco in April so was a fantastic effort just to make the start of the Route du Rhum.
Priscilla II 392
1978 Mike Birch 98 second win over Michel Malinovsky Loick and Happy which is a sister to Mikes Olympus.
Battleship 100
The IMOCA's are not hanging around either averaging 17-19 knots. Alex Thomson gone on abit of a Flyer by the looks.
Battleship 100
Alex Thomson looking better all the time. The IMOCA60's are doing about the same as the multi50's pretty impressive.
raz88 96
The updates I can find are in French and a little hard to make sense of. Seb josse/Edmond de rothschild lost a piece of his bow or one of his bows? and is out. Charal has "bar damage"?? Hasn't pulled out as of the update I could find from 4 hours ago, but is only doing 2 knots. Another of the big name ultimes was back at the same place as EDR from the look of the tracker. Priscilla II 392
Bugger the front fell off. https://youtu.be/7CYftMd8p40
markm 30
Can't say RouteDuRhum.com is the worlds greatest website, there's a phone app though which is a little better. Sodebo reported cracked cross beam and I'd guess is effectively out and yeah, I interpreted Charals 'steering problems' as 'can't steer at all'.
philstar 61
Charal now heading backwards looks like Jeremie bayou has pulled out.
Fish 0
Charal now heading backwards looks like Jeremie bayou has pulled out. Heading due east at 2 knts is not normally a good sign. But the real race for these guys is the Vendee, the Rhum is just a warm up. Considering Charal is such a new launch, he'd be very cautious not to break it when they don't need to. MarkMT 68
Armel Le Cleac'h with a technical problem he will be gutted. He now has a bigger problem. He's capsized... https://www.voile.banquepopulaire.fr/news/le-maxi-banque-populaire-ix-chavire-armel-est-en-securite 30/35 kts and 5m seas. Armel is apparently still inside the boat but is safe. Priscilla II 392
Bugger, conditions will not improve for while so salvage will be a challenge. https://www.routedurhum.com/en/news/
Battleship 100
%50 attrition rate for the ultime's so far, not so good. Must be pretty rough out there
Battleship 100
They are doing about half that speed but, yes it is everything to do with the seaway. Listened to AT last skippers report and they are all slowing down to preserve the boats.
Battleship 100
Agreed, Francois Gabart is a freak he is just that good. Joyon is a legend as well.
