SanFran 12
No change. I topped up with another 50 litres of diesel on top. Though i did sweat it out for a bit
SanFran 12
I guess the dilution was around 2%
Fish 0
I wonder if it inhibits the bug? No difference to the bugs, just a carbon source, same as diesel. Remembering petrol and diesel come out of the same hole in the ground. Just distilled at difference temperatures basically (different fractions of the crude). Turns out we use Fuel Set, stocked by BNT Automotive, and occasionally Repco. We've been through a few different products and settled on this one. Haven't had a problem with it, but then we now have a glass water separator, mounted under the companionway steps, so I'd have to be blind to have a problem now...
SanFran 12
I thought petrol might interact in the area between the diesel and the water, where the bug grows. Kind of like putting a bit of kero in the petrol tank to run through any moisture there. Or was that meths... i dunno
dutyfree 170
I have used the Fuelmaster stuff for over 10 years (or similar). Don't know if it makes a difference or not, but seems relatively cheap, maybe insurance, if it works

Just got our parcel from All Marine so off to the fuel dock this morning. What is odd, cleaned the elcheapo Chinese inline fuel filter that had clogged enough that the donk was losing power before coming up to fungarowa. 10 hours running later still clean. 20ml fuelmaster going in today, see how it goes. Ex Machina 365
apprarently the spores or whatever the bug reproduces with stick around so if you leave the fuel in the tank for a period of time it takes off again which happened to me first time i got it . cleaned the tank on the dozer new filters including the inline one it was good all summer then came back the following winter with the tank topped off. so its important to put a biocide in there to kill it

It’s quite usual if you have a small amount of sludge/ bug in your tank to block your filters of running in lumpy conditions, then if you have been motoring I flat water for nothing to pickup You may get away with sucking the sludge out of the lowest point in your tank then keep up with the additive, I did this my last boat and ended up racing around NZ with no further issues a few years later. The above scenario happens quite often on race boats that only ever motor in and out of the marina, then they do a major race that requires battery charging whilst underway and suddenly they have a blockage. Was a bitch to get the new tank in! So its not coming out anytime soon. Have ordered a fuel pump and plan to setup a filtration system, a pre filter and filter water separator with a pressure gauge and every so often circulate the tank through it, the gauge to show when the filter need servicing. I must admit, I didn't expect a polythene fuel tank to allow condensation but it must have. Bloody thing has no inspection plate or sump for draining so cleaning the fuel y best bet. dutyfree 170
Correct have not had fuel bug across three boats and many 000's of litres of diesel. I am also a bit slack when it comes to keeping the tank full in winter, which apparently limits the available air space for condensation to occur. But as mentioned earlier I put the fuel master stuff in with almost 100% of fills.
Crazyhorse 47
Just ran about 60lts out from the fuel drain in the bottom of the tank through a pump, cheap Chinese inline filter and a Griffin 2micron filter water separator. Got some dirt then ran clean for an hour. Peace of mind knowing the fuel is now mostly clean, no water and the fuel master stuff had worked? I'm wondering if I actually had the bug in the first place? I read that the water in diesel is actually in there when you buy it! Has little to do with condensation. It separates over time but isn't an issue for trucks etc due to the regular use and fuelups.
