Crazyhorse 47
Did I hear right? On the radio this morning, the AC talking of $23 per metre charge to anchor off Auckland!!!? OK, they are talking "super yachts" but is this the start of something sinister going on? User pays going viral?
Priscilla II 392
After fending off the recent demand for another $100mil cash handout for this billionaires pissing match it would not be surprising to see the Auckland City bean counters scratching around for any return on investment. Ex Machina 365
in all fairness the harbourmaster is going to have a lot on his/their plate orchestrating the whole deal and there will need to be a bunch of boats keeping the spectator fleet under control . and i dont think it will put off many superyacht owners who are used to paying much more for far less in the northern hemisphere. Fish 0
Apparently Auckland Council are struggling with coming up with a definition of a 'super yacht'. The Diversity and Inclusion committee protested the definition of being over 40m and foreign. It was seen to be discriminatory, siziest, and zenophobic against foreign boats. Additionally MFat confirmed that due the the CPP-ARSE trade agreement, government agencies, including local government, cannot levy foriegn nationals where local nationals are exempt from that levy. So Auckland Council have re-drafted the definition of a Super Yacht. They have come up with three criteria that must be met. Superyachts shall be defined as possessing all three of the following criteria: 1) Sophisticated communications equipment; 2.) Fine art, either on prominent public, or private display, and; 3) The carriage on board, or otherwise cellaring, of substantial quantities of alcohol, including but not limited to craft beer, fine wine and distilled spirits, including any bespoke artisan creations, such as hooch. So looking at these criteria Crazyhorse - I don't think you should bring your 'Super Yacht' south at any time in the near future....

Many years ago (31 years ago if I recall) I seem to remember a photo you had on your wall of the Cav 32 sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge. Now that was fine art. Crazyhorse 47
OK,we admit it, we are in posession of FINE art.
Fish 0
OK,we admit it, we are in posession of FINE art. I was referring to the mural adorning the bow of your superyacht as fine art, now you are just reinforcing the point by letting us know what is in your private collection. If your not careful, AC will double your anchoring fees. What ever you do, don't let on about your specialist artisan spirits (aka your Hooch). I'm sure AC will be able to find a special levy for that
Crazyhorse 47
Drat! You are saying the secret is out!? "Is that a still I see before me!?" . "Umm, it's a new kind of crayfish cooking pot...officer".
Rats 28
Pathetic. There is one boat already in town today that will cost about USD $110,000.00 a day to Run and Auckland shitty council wants to ping them and extra 1970 bucks for the PRIVILEGE of watching the cup. WTF What that one yacht has bought into this country in revenue, parts, and employment and you have got some 25 yr old nimby trying to justify his 100K pay check by charging them more? F off, this is petty BS.

Fish 0
I'm 100% behind that, 1001% actually. If you can afford a 40mt + boat 1200 is less then milk money...errrr ....fizzy drink money. The 0.1% have already been given 100's of millions of our bucks to have this sport harming event, they don't need to be given any more. Besides there are a lot of 'ours' on the water paying many 1000's a year for the same services, the fat cats can front up as well. Good grief!, KM is a socialist. After all this time, who wudda thunk
Abel Seaman 19
Hmmm. Any superyacht worthy of the name will have sophisticated electronics and maneuvering capability such that they should be able to program station keeping so that they stay in one position sans anchor. If they program a back and forth path at say 0.1 knot, they are technically underway. Can they charge vessels for being underway in the harbour? Paid lackies will of course keep a 24 hour lookout. harrytom 642
You have to be kidding, socialists should be shot dead thru the eye with a blunt speargun, just like all Marxist, communist, capitalist, rapist, sexist, misogynist, Stalinist, ageist, satanist, arsonist and nearly every other 'ist'. Notice how socialist, along with the rest, does sit very nicely next to rapist.........that's not accidental. But I will allow, and in certain circumstances actively encourage, nudists But will you allow lesbians as there are things that they do that I would do??

Another example of “you’ve got more money than me or more than you need so you should pay a fee that I don’t need to pay. And this is regardless of the fact you might need to buy a service whilst you’re here in NZ - maybe even some ropes or chains for your boat - but no let’s whack you for a rich man’s tax anyway just for being hete.”
