MarkMT 68
Started at Takapuna yesterday (who knew?)... https://livesaildie.com/2019-tornado-world-championships-tricky-start-to-regatta/ Nice to see Rex Sellars near the top of the fleet at 68.

MartinRF 52
Interesting, Brett Burvill's older brother Hayden won a regatta I helped arrange in Sweden in 1990. I believe Brett was one of the very first people to experiment with foils on Moths. Who is building Tornados these days? /Martin
ex Elly 197
There is a young German sailor who got 3rd - Estela Jentsch. She is only 16 years old. Could be one to watch for the future.
waikiore 397
At the other end of the age scale there are old men all over the shore in serious training for the Laser champs followed by the OK worlds, overheard at the KBC bar " they dont know how good I was"
MarkMT 68
Interesting to see most know about the OK's but there's been sweet FA leading up to and during the T cats, that's a bit weird. True, I only found out about the Tornados from a friend in Wisconsin. BTW Sellars finished 1 point away from 3rd, and one extra discard from 2nd.
MarkMT 68
Interesting comment from Richard Gladwell - We've made the point before, but only one of the sailing crew of the Emirates Team NZ America's Cup winning crew started their sailing in Auckland. Most came from the provinces, and excellent development programs run to identify and finesse young sailors. These young sailors come out of the regions with a quality that can never be coached - "Attitude". https://www.sail-world.com/news/213896/A-big-Week-for-Women-Sydney-Hobart-Furore
