Dobbo 0
So i have a vintage Solé 10hp single banger diesel and just gave it a solid workout .. basically drove it to the bay of islands and back. (northerlies on the way up, southerlies on the way back.. and a finite timeline,.) There is a cylindrical item on the side which started looking a bit corroded, then appeared overheated and finished cracked, oozing a little and spitting black sooty stuff. I think it is what the Solé parts list refers to as 'pipe exhaust' but not sure. It has a big exhaust pipe out the back which leads to a chamber of sorts further back in the boat, smaller pipes going in the front and connects high up on the side of the engine. can someone confirm for me exactly what this part is? how serious the problem (engine kept running fine - although still quite hot).
