Well worth seeing,my son downloaded it,Peters Grandfather I think what inspired him as his name appears in the credits,Peter has colourised old footage but I think the audio(in some references)are from the soldiers themselves,Tapes??

What we should remember, life was dull and these young men/woman were looking for adventure,at least the reason why alot of kiwi/aussies signed up.

See it before condeming it!!

there was old footage, old tapes

for many

static old photos of their grandfather?, great uncles? is all they have

wider sharing + improvements of existing material allows greater accuracy + better understanding

.....

look at apocalypse now

Initial reviews were mixed; while Vittorio Storaro's cinematography was widely acclaimed, several critics found Coppola's handling of the story's major themes to be anticlimactic and intellectually disappointing.

Apocalypse Now is today considered to be one of the greatest films ever made.

i wonder what Descartes would have to say about

"I thinktherefore I am"

slowly being replaced by

"I complain, therefore I am"

"Since this is my thread, I make the rules !!"

^ is that a trump quote?

Me -

Well, maybe but wouldn't it have been nice to portray the Vietnamese (and Cambodians) as if they were human beings?

And human beings fighting for their country?

Two figures sat side by side, staring at the Sea. One said to the other, “You know that one day we will die.” And the other friend replied, “But all of the other days WE WILL LIVE!”

As were the Turks.

The Turks were, by ww1 they were also the last gasp of the Ottoman empire and famed for ruthless and savage repression of the countries they had ruled and were still ruling.
The Armenian genocide ranks up there with the worst the world has seen.

Quite true. But don't kid yourself that ww1 was anything more than a scramble for wealth power and resources by greedy rich people in which poor people were fed into a meat grinder
