DrWatson 375
So, father in law is looking at a boat to buy over here in northern Germany. 1998 motor cruiser. In 2010 had 10k of osmosis work done. My question is, if a boat needed considerable osmosis work after only 12y, would that be a red flag for potential build quality issues?
Island Time 1,235
Depends on the quality of the repair. Island time had a 20k full bottom replacement with epoxy 20 years ago. Never had a single issue since.

DrWatson 375
Well, I'm concerned that it is one of these... And although it's not my taste, and I can appreciate that some people are into this kind of boat, I'm not convinced by the hull form... particularly the flat sections after the deadrise forefoot... I guess it depends on how the bottom job was done. If it was a piecemeal patching or a full plane back dryout and layup with new glass and epoxy...
