One of our former exchange students from France wound up working in the

canal boat business in Saint-Jean-de-Losne, near Dijon.

If you pass that way and want to meet a perky French bundle of energy, let me know and I will put you in touch

Thank you for your offer of a contact in St.Jean de Losne. A.J., and sorry for the late reply. Just now we are in a high and remote area of the Vosges foothills. Well alright, it's not really high at 370 meters but after 63 uphill locks over the last 5 days it feels like it should be pretty darned high!
This is a beautiful nature area of natural forest interspersed with hundreds of kilometers of cycle paths so Joke is in her 'happy place.' There is quite a lot of wildlife so see, mainly birds but also muskrats and even a deer although unfortunately the latter was floating dead in the canal. We are starting the descent now and exiting the Vosges canal and onto the Petite Saone river at a place called Corre. We will travel a 100kms or so on the river and then turn right on the Champagne-Borgogne canal so we will not make it as far as St.Jean de Losne.
Canal side moorings are great on this stretch of water and fully serviced ad well as free. Here's an example.IMG_20190517_131112.jpg
