It’s one thing to bench test ,making it work in the boat will be another.
The bespoke test rig is a monster piece of engineering and the loads at the business end must be phenomenal.

Another has withdrawn. The Dutch. Malta earlier. How many does that leave?

It's getting to the stage it's not worth holding. $100 million from the  Gov't for what. If another withdraws how many o/s Spec boats will there be to off set the $100 million. Also it's going to be a very short Regatta. That please a lot of boaties. The harbour will not be restricted for very long.

Though worth holding and worth funding are two different things. It only takes two boats to have a match and decide a winner.

 

Under the agreement with the government they lose funding if fewer than 3 challengers make it.

 

If I had my way, there would be no government funding regardless of how many show. In the end the real ROI the government is looking for is votes.
