John B 106
That model lives in the NRC moorings office next to opua hardstand , I asked what it was but the person there didn't know. In a brief look at it I didn't see a nameplate on it or the case. I left thinking it was Stormvogel or an oceans 71, not that I'm up on the details of those designs. Priscilla II 392
Think you may be right JB. Storm Vogel was a collaboration between Van De Stadt Illingworth and Giles. The Trophy was originally gifted by the Whangarei Harbour Board in 1964 so the time is right. Star of the movie Dead Calm. http://stormvogel.net/about-stormvogel/the-yacht/
John B 106
Sealestial out at watchmans island is an oceans 71, and they were production run developments of Stormvogel. The superyachts of their day. But the varnish and coaming style etc all points to Stormvogel herself , eh.
