wheels 543
In a nutshell, I think what is happening is a Poor country has dug huge amounts of their country up in a detructive way, made piles of crap in a destructive way, wrapped it all in fancy packaging, sold it to a wealthy country that ultimately gets a moments pleasure from it, followed by it being returned to the ground in a destructive way. We are silly animals in some ways eh.

Elenya 33
For a bit of perspective on size, the largest container ship we get in Auckland carries a maximum of 4,100 TEU, EM carries 15,000 TEU. A TEU is not 20 cubic feet as stated in the text it is a Twenty foot Equivalent Unit (a 20 foot container). There is a maximum vessel size set for Auckland by the Harbourmaster. The EM is well over this. The only ship that has been allowed to visit that is over the maximum size is the QMII. Need a wee bit of dredging for larger ships.....but never say never. Big Beast! rigger 47
FYI the largest Container ship into Akl as far as I know was the Maersk Detroit - approx 5000 TEU. The largest regular callers are the 4100s at 281m LOA and they are being replaced by a class that is 264m LOA yet have a slighlty larger capacity some 30 TEU greater.
