False Floor in Jav

So after my out of boat experience in the Javelin before Christmas I'm keen to put a false floor in the old girl. I figure we already carry around and extra 5-10kg in water most of the time which is no more than the weight of a false floor. I'm guessing I just need to find the waterline and then build the floor a bit above that. It gets difficult working around the centrecase and bracing but I'd thought of cutting all of that down to the same hight as the floor.

Anyone else out there done something similar? Any tips or things to look out for?

I've got an older Jav (1982 #313), thought about a false floor, as the current floor kind of came off the stringer.

Might open the gunnels up and replace a bulkhead or two too.

My boat's ply, but the new bits might be carbon as I might have some on hand.

Actually might replace a few bits of ply for carbon all round! Just have to get my tiller welded up and get through my wedding first! :D

Mine will be all ply and glass as the budget is about $150 for the whole job if I'm lucky and the financial controller is feeling generous.

I'm not worried about the extra weight as I don't race it at all.

A wedding will also mean you will have some limits on the finances I can imagine.
