A ultrasonic bath got most of it, and a bit of manual work to clear the idle jet in the carb which was full of crud, and good to go, sounding a lot more healthy. Deep Purple 511 Posted March 24, 2010 Share Posted March 24, 2010 We hit 25 knots (23 on the log and it under-reads 10%) going down the harbour before our big moment (i honestly thought we were going over) then as soon as we rounded the bottom our halyard block broke and we limped home on the masthead spinnaker halyard with a reef and storm jib (courtesy of a hole in the #2). Rounded that off by losing a guy over the side after the finish. Got a few jobs to do before tauranga. Link to post Share on other sites

That's quite a list, especially the concern about going over as I imagine you are probably a pretty accurate judge of when it's time to worry. Its a pity you Multis are all at Northhead doing this kind of stuff while the rest of us are still at the startline and can't watch! We saw 18kt on the Sportie, not bad for reefed main, number 3 jib and fractional kite. Our great plan of flying down the harbour under masthead kite and then looking famous on the beat back with the reef went bad at the very start when the halyard went the to the top of the mast but uncliped the kite halfway Link to post Share on other sites

It was the classic round-out under genny with the rudders out of the water that turned into a big side on 45 degree lean. Pretty scary. The windows were in the water Link to post Share on other sites
