The sterling silver ewer once known as the ‘£100 Cup’ and named the ‘America’s Cup’ after America, the yacht of the same country that fought off the British fleet around the Isle of Wight in 1851, is the most sought after trophy in the sport of sailing.

It has resided at the Société Nautique de Genève (SNG) in Switzerland since 2003 when the representing team, Alinghi – a first time challenger – wrestled it from the two-time winner, Team New Zealand, and returned it to Europe for the first time since the original race.

Alinghi successfully defended the America’s Cup for SNG in 2007 securing the trophy’s Swiss residency until today when the Cup arrived at the Defender’s base in Port America’s Cup, Valencia, where it will be exhibited to the public in the house of the America’s Cup at the Alinghi base.

Reading and listening to bits and bobs around the traps, it could be quite possible Ernie Bertie is about to spit the dummy big time and knot line up for the start gun. Word has it if the sails get knocked back by the Court he's going to just tell BMWO to keep the boat on the dock and just come get the Cup.

Could be head games but I do think the pressure seems to be getting at the Aloonie team or at least their dickwad of a boss. Just bits here and there suddenly don't have that 'stubborn get F'ed' sort of a tinge to them they usually have.

The word is also Aloonie maybe coming to the conclusion the big Tri is faster in lower wind strengths and was original thought. Hence the bail out blaming the courts rather than get a embarrassing arse whopping on the water.

I do think your thread title is quite apt YY. Knot only on but being felt in some corners as well.

'Potential' 2 billion. I seriously doubt over 2/5ths of the world population will be watching or would even know what the AC is. Just like the 200 million reported to watch the NZ Golf open :?

Then again it would be good to have 2 billion watch what maybe the most expensive dummy spit in yachtings and probably all sports history.

9 days and we'll know I suppose.

your point is lost on me :eh:

If your point is to have a crack at the big fella then get yourself some popcorn and a beer and settle in for a landslide of yachting porn the likes of which any sinner would be proud of.

On the other hand if you are simply a troll popping your head from under your bridge to sparkup negitive banter then stand by for the reaction you desire.

Tell me, do you know what to do when someone calls starboard?

your very welcome Slacko. After years of reshearch, I have a tremendous list of people and organisations who send me press and videos before most people have seen them, so I thought I would post a few here for the enjoyment of crew.org members.

regarding the above . . .

actually I'd quite enjoy it if you could filter out the trolls - gettin' very tiresome and almost switch off material

I find the "ignore user" button quite helpful sometimes ScottiE.

Add to the thanks also YY, good just to be able to click a link and not have to go searching for things like the above myself!
