If there was some way of re-jigging the courses to bring the faster boats that did the smallboat course this year together with the smaller shorthaul boats that would be great. Longest race first or second for me.

I would think reversing the order would be a fatal flaw. The series as is gives a real opportunity to develop your own ability and confidence in two handed racing. A big part of that is warming up to the bigger and hairy races. I feel its that aspect that attracts so many entries, particularly of boats that haven't completed the series before.

Having the big race first would be like having a crack at Mt Cook, then coming back and practicing in the Waitakeres.

I agree with Fish, don't reverse the order of the races.

2011 was our first series and the boat had never been 2 handed before. The two shorter races gave us the opportunity to learn about how to sail 2-up and get ourselves sorted to tackle the 100. Not that the SIMRAD is exactly short of entrants, but to keep encouraging new people and boats to the series, I'd keep the format the same

I agree with what some of the others have said. It is a great series. this year was our first time racing two-handed and starting with the long course especially in those conditions would have been "interesting" so i think the current way of stepping up in distance is good. We took the first race to get our systems organised and learnt a lot which was useful later on.

Roll on next years series!!
