No don't name and shame yet.

Give the guy a fair chance first. I don't believe too many go about purposefully ripping their clients off. Certainly those with physical places of business and not just fly by nighters that rip off and disappear only to surface later in some other place.

There are always reason, or two sides to a story. He has done what he did and charged what he did for a reason. It is now a case of working together to come up with a solution. Another part of the CGA is that the Business must be allowed the opportunity to put things right. If the rudder is not working properly, then they must have the opportunity to put that right for you (at their cost ofcourse). It is possible that they are reputable and want happy customers that return with further business. If you piss them off now, it only makes the entire situation uncomfortable for everyone involved and you end up with a messy fight on your hands.

After you have given them fair opportunity in every area, then you have full right to name and shame as they obviously don;t care about their clients and are there to rip[ people off.

Agree. and i would go back and firmly suggest he put it right no charge or i will take it further!

24 hours labour is a complete piss take...

my guess at a rough quote!

Measure and design Dodgy stock - 0.5 - 1 hours

Mark out and Cut ply to wrong shape- 0.5 hrs

Attach pintals and glue ply together - 0.5 -0.75 hrs

sand , drill "pivot hole ' and glass - 1 hour

Shape rudder, fill, glass - 1.5-2 hours

Labour (say 6 hours) @ $ 55 = $330.00

Materilal - Ply, Glue, resin, glass cloth, filler, undercoat, subndry items - $ 500.00 M AX!

total $$830.00

. Even with labour at a ridick u arse 10 hours it will be a lot cheaper than this guys price.

Did he supply the pintals or you?

If the old one was still available - even in pieces - that should have taken some of the guesswork out of the design too.
