Guest
It's official. The NZ Herald, from the City of Sails, put out their winter sports supplement today with no mention of Yachting. Bit sad really.
Murky 1
Haven't seen it/read it but here is a fun game you could play if you want: - Go through the supplement and note down every sport/organisation that is mentioned - Now go through it again and put a mark beside every sport/organisation that has coincidentally chipped in to take an ad. The bonus category is to keep track of each time someone you know makes a comment that proves they read and paid attention to something that was said in the supplement. I will say no more but will be interested in any revelations that come out. I would have thought there was only one winter sport in NZ at the moment anyway! And that one would be more likely to be found on the front page than in a supplement.
Guest
Got up for the second half. We're bloody good, no doubt about it. FIFA said no haka which was a shame. It might have shut up the vuvuzuelas for 2 minutes.

Guest Dry Reach
Sailing is a activity Yacht racing is a sport / art Sports have a score and time involved and more than one team (typically) Sailing in NZ is as big as any other activity except golf and fishing. Yacht racing is mediocre in terms of international results other than a few olympic sailors aspirations every 4 years.

wheels 543
Sailing in NZ is as big as any other activity except golf and fishing. Rugby in NZ attracts 6% of the population to the Sport. Yachting attracts 5%. So it is not far behind one of the biggest sporting attractions of NZ.

Good to see that talent coming through. Soccer was good effort though. Sadly the joke was it made bugger all news. Big marks for the soccer lads. Coming home unbeaten is a great effort considering we aren't or weren't rated by anyone. You know for sure when a NZ team has done good, it suddenly becomes 'our' team in all Aussie media Sailing can be whatever you like it to be, from a Sport thru a relaxing pastime to big business.
