Guest
According to one of Spain’s top sailing journalists, Nicolas Terry, Emirates Team New Zealand is back in the Volvo Ocean Race, joining forces with Pedro Campos. Just like the previous edition of the round-the-world race, Emirates Team New Zealand will take part in a Kiwi-Spanish joint-venture and according to reliable sources out of a total budget of €16 million, Grant Dalton will chip in with €10 million while Mapfre, the Spanish insurance giant, will provide €6 million. Hats off to Grant Dalton for securing yet another big-name sponsor from Spain to fund the Kiwi entry in the premiere round-the-world race. There is a rumor about a big Russian sponsor as well but this is still unconfirmed. This is a developing story, so stay tuned… more here https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater http://www.vsail.info/2014/02/25/emirat ... nd-mapfre/ http://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2014/ ... m=facebook

waikiore 398
What a shame ETNZ pulled out of the Volvo when the boats are ready, and we have the money the people and the ability and track record to win this race. If only we would pull out of the farcical AC, Mr Dalton could do a good job of managing the team. Of course this would not provide ongoing lucrative salaries for the dozens circling round ETNZ -- but it is patently obvious that this little country cant afford that any longer!
