  1. So, I went with the MacGlide from MPS. I was keen to explore options other than conventional antifouling and following a bit of research I decided that I'd give this system a go. Due to a combination of factors the boat has been sitting on a mooring up the Weiti River for six months now and has got a fairly 'healthy' layer of slime on it. I have not dived on the boat for a couple of reasons: a) I'm a wuss, and b) I wanted to give the product a decent test of it's claimed performance as a self cleaning film. Fingers crossed I'll be sailing the boat in two to three weeks time, at which point

  2. Again, Wheels and anyone else, watch the doco, and read what you can. Large industry has MPI in their pockets, and many MP's are not neutral. The QMS simply is not working, stats can be made to say anything. It's led to a situation where apparently more than 40% of the current take may be being dumped. Its illegal, but its happening, as it make economic sense. Again I use the example I gave before. One species has currently a "moratorium" on fishing it , the large fishing companies would have you believe that its because they are environmentally conscientious, but the fact is that

  4. amazing how it idolises the IOR rule, this was the worst thing that ever happened to yacht design and in Jim Young's words created expensive slow yachts.

  5. Talking a dead man into something seems a bit futile. I have a merc 2 stroke 15. It’s heavy enough to lug around the boat, and I’m not really a fan of putting it on the pushpit bracket because of the weight of it. yammy short shaft 15hp 2 stroke, 36kg yammy short shaft 15hp 4 stroke 50(!!!!!)kg To me the question is how will you store it, how often will you take it off the dinghy, how often will you need to lift it. If you can work with the weight of 4-st, then yeah sure, go for it.
