I used to use a 4.2 heavy air rig on a longboard cause you can’t lean into at all as the wheels just let go . It hurts landing flat on your back on concrete . yeah a mountain board would go well on the beach for sure and also allow you to lean a bit without letting go . it was a thing years ago I remember seeing a few at muriwai , Piha and orewa

Mast base on a longboard …plug your windsurfer rig in and go …max 5-8 knots though , apparent wind is a scary thing when you start running out of car park/reservoir and are doing 30kmh

We could see a mean thunder cell for a couple of hours last night way down out from barrier/coro

Great advice mate , thanks

What’s the weight of the 2KW with the battery ?
-
Just be aware you will all have to sit at the back and hoisting the main can get tricky when crew go forward if it’s fresh or bumpy

Owner could stand on the dock to field questions ? Or in my case on the ground . definitely going to be a mad rush for us to get cat 3 in time . This will be the 2nd time I’ve gotten cat 3 for a boat that’s been an empty shell and needs 100% of the trinkets on the list …hate that list !

That looks like a neon set top box strapped to the compression post . Really liking the warm timber glow in the aft cabin

Yeah we dis-affiliated from NZTYA . No hard feelings it’s just another fee on top of the YNZ one for very little return . In the 3 years I’ve been trailer yacht convenor I’ve had no communication from them , which is fine cause they are at the other end of the country after all .

That looks like a bi-turbo elder ?

I did a halyard hole mine . Just drilled a regular hole a bit oversize then got a chainsaw file and filed it at an extreme angle to make a slot . The file works a treat makes it smooth as with no fuzzy bits

The 33 can also be configured with a lifting keel/ cassette rudder which would be a hit in Auckland if you could find somewhere to park it .

This is the 2nd time this year KD has made front page of sailing anarchy . The other boat was the Lyman-Morse 46 https://sailinganarchy.com/2021/08/26/new-33-for-thee/ https://www.lymanmorse.com/design/lm46-performance-cruiser/

Email the organisers about Div C , if you can round up 5 boats they will probably do it . They did have it this year but the numbers weren’t high enough .

Only seen two yachts go past this part of the coast after lockdown started …one motoring south and one large cat sailing north which has been a live aboard in Whangarei harbour for over a year now . very different to last year when I was seeing too many to count the first week of lockdown . all heading north and equal numbers of launches and yachts

Every now and again a cow or horse goes through a car windscreen and kills an occupant of that vehicle . windscreens and farm fences haven’t been modified to prevent it this happening again . Deaths at sea are extremely dramatised in the same way as shark attacks are . Offshore Sailing is way less dangerous than hurtling through pine forests on motorcross bikes or walking up Mt taranaki in shorts and T shirt . Both those examples of dangerous recreational activities have zero rules or restrictions placed on them .

5kt shitbox 😂

Isn’t that what munters do on the weekend ?
-
They are listed by region on YNZ website I think ?

Keen to see that too ! Outboards qualify as emergency steering but I would far rather have a rudder .

Is it a galaxy or a rocket ? If it’s the galaxy PM me and I can put you in touch with one of the builders

Reminds me of a very expensive generator oil change back in 1999 we were billed for on a superyacht . Ironically right next door to pier 21 , it was the generators first service so the well known Company that supplied the kit sent the apprentice down to do it . invoice came in at $1200 bucks for oil and filter +plus a run up to check all was good . Skipper gave them an earful and I guess it worked the invoiced was reduced substantially and the company is still going and still one of the bigger crowds in the field .

Yep have the same kit and the outlet gets jolly hot to touch but doesn’t offgas or go soft . dimond roofing and metalcraft roofing both do galvanised 80mm down pipe . And you could insulate it with the socks made for heat transfer system ducting which is easily got at big box hardware stores and electrical wholesalers .
