  1. Yup would be kinda cool but not at any price. Best spectator view like many sports however is from a decent size high quality tv. Really don’t give a rats arse wether it’s here or in Italy. Not very patriotic to local industry etc I know but this half arsed AC base fiasco has only just begun. Something about the Auckland physche for doing things by halves. Banged on endlessly to reclaim the whole of Victoria Park as a park when the undergrounding was done, typical Auckland half arsed bean countered result with a billion tons of vehicle contaminates continuing to rain down on the park user

They do here in Ponsonby for some strange reason. Actually the worst crap is cat crap. Had to wash down a chippie mate who had crawled under a house and had a good coating of pussy poo, not good at all.
  3. Apart from blocking the waterfront view from their offices here is another reason why VHH have burst into life on the AC bases. One Market Square.
  4. If this is right I mutter 'fucken Panuku' to myself. That report that came out yesterday saying NZ is the least corrupt country in the world seems to have excluded that department. NZ has the worst kind of corruption the type that cannot be readily identified and exposed hence the award for the least corrupted. "hear no evil see no evil" Plenty smells about the whole process but no one will ever get fingered.

Happens all the time. Must be absolutely gutting for Doc rangers and volunteers. How much fun does the furry 4 legged member of the family have waiting all day or nite to get rowed ashore for a dump. I personally think that the pet owners are never going to change their behaviour and that is evidenced by the fact that none that I see on a regular basis around the gulf can either read or are prepared to at least pick up the crap as they are so willing to do on land.
  6. True, ring fencing out VHH offices waterfront views with a bunch of Total Span tin sheds has Mark and Adrian throwing out to the public arena the most bizarre plan.Loved Dalton’s response.
  7. My choice for the most logical AC village location would be the Devonport naval base. The RNZN has a whole fleet of redundant recently commissioned vessels that cannot be manned occupying prime usable water front real estate. Take the 2 frigates and the new waste of dosh $500 million tanker and relocate to Whangarei. Voila no need for $200 million AC base spend.
  8. Look to Adrian and Mark to rattle a few cages. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11999918
  9. Fish, I replaced my aged 17hp 2 cylinder marinized Kubota with a 25hp Kubota based Beta. Quite a task which included a new larger fuel tank, complete engine bed, exhaust system, electrical wiring, prop and battery management etc.... Basically I have turned my old log of wood sailboat into a launch and realistically the total speed gain achieved from old to new is about 1.5 extra knots when motoring to wind and tide. Got sick and tired of beating home up the harbour at 3 or so knots which in my view has more tidal flow due to the harbour being constantly stolen by POAL. In fifteen years of
  10. Did some development in the Parnell Strand area for a client . The best return on investment by far was a new build car park. Washed it twice a year and the lights came on automatically. No pesky tenants demanding fit out contributions, no earthquake remedial issues etc just a plain and simple cash machine. Look to similar in the Western Reclamation. You are right JK the further seaward you develop the costs of subterranean build do not stack up.
  11. Wheels, the old diesel just sat tucked away in the rear end of the yacht with little thought given to fresh air intake. I have upgraded the diesel to a Beta 3 cylinder and now looking for a simple solution to provide fresh air to the intake manifold without having to resort to a electrical blower. Heat is manage by the exchanger so I am going to head for a ducted intake with a stand pipe tucked up in the back of the cockpit Surprisingly most of the yachts I have seen have no dedicated fresh air intake system and a few have blowers to just cool the alternator.
  12. A really good engine room has intake ducts with salt scrubbers, shut off hatches, and is quite airtight otherwise... And there I was thinking that the end was in sight for my engine replacement project....
  13. The largest sucker of air in the engine compartment is the fresh air intake manifold. How about just a old fashioned stand pipe with a 75mm flexi hose directly attached and do away with the air filter. Heat exchanger should be sufficient in keeping things cool so more interested in adequate engine air supply. Have sound proofed where I can and given the correct required volume of air is quite a bit I am not happy with just nooks and crannies and gaps to provide.
  14. Is this style of blower rated for continuous operation and how noisy are they. If I am blowing fresh air into the compartment to feed the engine etc do I also need to extract as well.
  15. Engine room ventilation that is. Looking for ideas to provide adequate fresh air delivery to my engine compartment.
  16. Basement parking was not a design option for the ASB site so I suppose that applies pretty much to the whole western reclamation redevelopment. Look to the inclusion of private commercial parking buildings to address the demand. Traffic at present is a disaster and just wait till the Cup is in full swing.
  17. Yup, cats are more stable drinking platforms and your bimbos can leave their high heels on.

  21. 360 degree visibility to other craft is what you require. Some random power saving light slung under the boom or a pushpit mounted solar garden lamp will not effectively achieve 360 degree visibility. It is called masthead for a reason.
  22. Seems nobody has told Beca that Westhaven plans to fill in the western entrance to the marina to develop the breakwater. With a single entrance exit and the additional traffic of the relocated ferry and fishing boats along with super boat activity its going to get pretty congested in my view. https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/ResourceConsentDocuments/bun60313923-14-attach14bappbbecahydraulicmodellingreport-ac36pdtechrpt12.1.2018.pdf

  24. From SA From Fritz Kloepfel: In the late 1980s, I was just getting serious about my love affair with racing sailboats. At an early Key West Race Week I met an interesting character named Larry Ruhland. He was unlike anyone I knew, but he was passionate about racing sailboats. Over the course of the week we became friends and over the next couple years, I invited him to come sail with me in Florida several times. And he did! Eventually, he invited me to come race in the Great Lakes aboard his boat, Dolphin. She was a fabulous old racing boat 54 feet long, with a mast reaching over 80 fe
  25. BP check that the unit is complete including the exterior exhaust fitting. Installation is pretty straight forward. Wallis also do a nifty cooker come heater, not cheap though. Ducting, vent grills and other bits and pieces if required can be purchased easily.
