Spoke to customs today and say you have to pay gst because the boat was exported. I have sent and email to get an official answer.

Exporting i guess has the intention of not comming back and being registered in a new country?

so they were never exported?

What was the background with the yachts you sailed back from aus? Had they been sold to aus and then sold back to NZ? If so how long had they been in aus?

I deal with Richard for freight at work so will definately be talking to him tomorrow.

When you factor time off work is sailing it cheaper? Waiting for the right weather window could end up a few weeks off work plus getting the boat to cat 1 before it leaves.

How does the gst and duties work on a boat that was built and used in nzd until 2002 then exported to aus and then import back to nz some time later. Would duties and gst be payable? And what is the most economical way to ship a boat back to nz?

Surely he could join us in the shorthaul....

We tried with getting a handful of quotes and ended up going with Lidgard Sails who wasnt the cheapest but was well priced. Turned into a big mistake, headsail was a high cut foot, main had draught well aft and code zero had no shape. Tried to work with them for a while as i gave them a chance to correct, whole way theough i was told it was all perfect until we got a second opinion. in the end got money back for the main and they went into recievership weeks later which ment i was stuck with the other 2 sails. Have since sold them off for less than quarter the value. Went to North sail

Simrad/B&G or lowrance i find are the easier units to use. Simrad has now released the RS20 which im not a fan of, RS12 was a nice unit but now discontinued.

MS-RA70 are nmea2000 compatable. We install these every week and plug them to the network and have full functionality on gps

Meister will be in for the second race, unfortunately we won’t have any water under us this weekend. Boat is back in the water on the 6th and rigged up ready for race 2 on the 10th
