    Kick E1050?

Thanks, probably is one of my favourite parts of the boat. No Further with keel mods, have spoken to a few designers and done alot of research but no action yet.

    Kick E1050?

Kick an Elliott 1050? Top photo arriving back in NZ in 2018 after leaving for Aus in 2002. She left NZ as a very well maintained boat and returned in a very poor state. The list of what I haven't done would be alot shorter than what has been done to get her back upto the condition she originally was before leaving NZ. Bottom photo is of her being re launched earlier this week after her most recent top side repaint to match her deck repaint carried out 18 months ago. Background: Launched 1994 by Ian Harvey owner of Eagle Yachts who built majority of the 1050's. Ian
  4. I don't think you would want to be in the foam core, solid glass in the stem would be strongest? Just looking at your setup you could gain another 100 or so mm if you had a snout machined up for the end of the prod and run you tackline through the tube? We have a snout with 2 exit holes to run 2x tacklines, 1x 1:1 for A sails and 1x 2:1 for Fro
  5. Thanks, would have done foam if I was more comfortable with laminate schedules to get strength. Dad is a wooden boat builder from the 80's but not up to play with the modern composite methods hence using timber. Has been well tested with an RNI and plenty of other testing miles!
  6. DIY Project with my dad. Made a pattern of the bow and made a a jig. Laminated timber and carbon unis into a carbon tube then wrapped it all in double bias carbon.
  7. We have a fairly simple system. Prod end is spliced through carbon tube but the stay goes through the tube and over the top and then back through and spliced to itself so it takes weight on top, don't have any close up pics of this. Then on the stem we have a wichard D bolt and stay is lashed with a low friction ring.
  8. We currently have 200L on the 1050 and get about 8 days. We have pressure hot and cold water and 2x showers, 1 inside and 1 on the transom. Before our next big cruise we will be expanding to 500L so we don't have to find water. We have a 25ltr approx hot water cylinder and if the whole family is going to have a shower we will run the engine at the same time to keep water warm which also tops up batteries. We have 2 adults and 2 kids.
  9. Not finished yet but will be back in the water in a few weeks after some major works over the last few months. Over the last 18 months HMC has done our decks and last month top side re paint plus some interior painting and anti foul. Everyone that walks past her gives the thumbs up and says how sharp she is looking!
  10. Looking good Nigel, no extra pairs of hands today?
  11. Agree with BooBoo, and make sure you get a reputable surveyor and not a recommendation from the broker or seller.
  12. Unfortunately a bad weekend for Kick with arrangements already otherwise we would be there to start prep for next RNI.
  13. Bummer, I should have been more prepared today. Need some of the 2 part expanding foam.
  14. Need supplies in the morning but not sure if they will be open?
  15. Bunnings have small sheets of marine bonded ply.
  16. Must be a 1050 thing, I did full re wire in Kick but abandoned replacing anchor winch wires as I had no clue of how to get them out!
  17. Thanks Wheels, already have. Cradle just modifying it so it can go on the wheeler at Weiti for haulouts.
  18. Hey, does anyone has some 200-300mm steel I Beam kicking around they want to get rid of. After 3 pieces at 1.5m and 1 piece at 3m.
  19. Could be interested if your wanting to part with it? Modify into a 1050 hauling cradle.
  20. Hi Josh We have vivid currently and is just over a year old and is absolutely stuffed! Waiting for our haul out in March when we re paint topsides. We are going to change to Warpaint. I have heard war paint is tested in the River so should perform the best. I also had a boat on the grid next to me which has Warpaint which was 12 months old and hasn't been cleaned and the guy just used a light brush and cleaned it in 30min and I was on the water blaster for almost 2 hours.
  21. A trip to Tauranga to pickup wouldn't be an issue if the price was right.
  22. Would be keen on this if I could get my hands on some gear to handle 1300-1400 kg of lead
  23. Well that is a big hand brake then, $7500 to re cast lead..... Last Bulb we did must have been about $1.50 per kg when supplying lead.
