  1. I have copper coat that has been on over 10 years although touched up around the waterline 3 years ago. Easy application and smooth. Overtime became a little rougher. It is OK but not as good as a high quality antifoul. Its been over 3 years since last full haulout but water blasted every 3-4 months. I am time rich-cash poor and have access to piles so suites my lifestyle. At Opua the lovely helpful and ever so friendly ladies (not) informed me in their tactful way that the copper coat had to be renewed every 6 months and I needed a receipt to prove it. Would I go this way again....sit on th
  2. Last boat had a difficult to repack gland due to a re-engine by the PO and always dripped a too much. I was able to source a product I think called "Dripless Stuffing". Once used never touched the gland for six years and then sold the boat. A cheap alternative that worked for me 100%.

(The auto-helm loved it too) How old and full is your main as your central issue may be due to the sum of many parts . Because she has fine ends pitching can become an issue so I work hard on keeping weight centred on the central hull area.
  6. As a Nova owner who has covered a few miles in her I think I know enough to say: reef main early, keep a full hoist headsail up (chico jib fits very well) and keep her shoulder down. This maximises a very short waterline and seems to stop the stern dragging. If main full batterned play the traveller, if the luff is backed this is OK for short periods. A Nova is NOT a modern boat and was designed to heel as many 1966/7 designs seem to be.Dont expect her to point too high, instead increase VMG by footing low and (relatively) fast with the bibbest headsil you can comfortably hold. My 5 cents wor
