Gutted! And the Poms best player is NZ born. Still at long last the Black Caps produced what lots of us hoped they had. They have done us Kiwi cricket fans proud

Thanks lateral for the heads up. I use simple green. It smells nice too. Since an engine guy used it in the engine bay its all I have used. Now I understand why. Whew!

Kevin I like your safety card, simple, straight forward, effective.
Yes Mean Streak safety is about attitude and ensuring the preparation done matches the planning required for the venture.
This sad chapter is a sobering reminder for us all to prepare for the worst case scenario collectively and individually.
I will be setting up a boom control system on my boat right after I upgrade the fittings it will rely on. I like your idea KM

I am following it, enjoying some spectacular photos and watching the different routing strategies.
Today Scallywag recovered a MOB in 7 minutes while sailing at double figures. How good is that? Well done guys

No let's talk about it now. ETNZ's weakness is lack of match racing experience. Time will tell if they can learn fast enough. I think this bunch can but it's a hell of a steep learning curve as they have said themselves.

Last Friday night the Squadron was sold out and packed out for Conrad's talk. He has put the video on his Fb page. Extra things I learned about this crazy awesome Kiwi sailor and his Vendee -

When he spent that day up the mast sorting out the reefing, a big bag of his main had blown around to the front of the mast after the cars had come off so he had to sort that out first.

He lost 11kg after running out of food.

When the mast came down he phoned his wife who, after confirming Conrad was not injured and the boat was in one piece, just told him to get some sleep.
He put the jury rig weighing 85kg up 3 times using only bags of sails to increase the vertical because he wasn't happy with the sails.

Conrad is now working for Volvo so hopefully they will buy him a nice foiler for the next Vendee. He said he would really like Hugo Boss, thinks that's the way Vendee design is heading.

For the record, PJ Montgomery as MC for the Squadron night was equally funny and in fine form.

harrytom I am with you. In the public domain the perception that ETNZ choked and Dean was responsible remains. That is wrong and unfair given that GD called the lay day without consulting Dean.

Conrad's up to his tricks again. It seems his latest exploit is sewing a sail up the mast in 20 knots. He rocks that guy!

Conrad's doing well keeping up with some newer boats and the Japanese guy looks to have been going well now and is up to 14th

harrytom. Yes when the kiwiprop was first fitted I had that problem. The guys who fitted it changed something which got rid of that problem. Sorry I can't remember what they changed but kiwiprop can help you

Battgirl got a reaction from grantmc in Complete antifoul removal
Am removing all the antifoul off my boat so i can check the condition of the fibreglass hull.
I can confirm that caustic soda - 250gms mixed in a litre of water -thickened with a premix of cornflour and water does work.
I am wearing full battle kit of disposable overalls with hood, boots, gloves and a powertool helmet with the visor covered in gladwrap (not affected by the caustic soda and it doesn't fog up) while mixing and using.
I put the stuff on with a 4 inch nylon brush then spray it with water to keep it wet and after half an hour to an hour i use a plastic scraper to slide it off straight into a bucket lined with a grocery bag. It comes off easily. A litre of mix covers about 3 square metres.
