We seam to have lots of mistakes ,little mistakes That make it win or lose. We say the same things in mono hull racing and most of the time pick it up on the next leg , but these boats you bare it till the end If we get in tomorrow all good. But what are the defenders going to come out with , that will dictate the race , but for us it's to late then , I hope Tnz are working on it ,

A radio interview I heard the day after the mine issue was with a Scottish mining expert , engineer , he said after the first exposion go in quickly and ascertain the damage Help the men , our police representatives were blocking the way with the health and safety stance , no experience while these men , New Zealanders needed help . In other words look after your self jack , and to hell with the rest . No happy

Nothing wrong with ply wood , Spencer was only one guy who promoted ply. ,most boats from the 70s 80s on were ply , I have been off shore three time in boats built of ply ,that inspector knows nothing of good ply construction , you could challenge him publicly , ply is still being used , there is a boat at the wade now 60 years old ply and never glassed below the water line still sound ,

Try , cut jib flush the mast no over hang , then roach the main , fully batterened , loose footed , and tension the battons to form some shape firm , and you will fond the helm soft in all weathers ,and it frees up the slot and she sails much better , ,so full hight jib , flush ish at the mast ,works for me ,

My way , 17 years ago I did my decks on timber yacht wich need doing again now. My old fathers method was and works , sand to scuff all areas. Undercote , then use builders bog. Car bog type , quick drying , pink stuff , and fill the entire deck fill every scratch and mark , an hour later sand with 100 grit , orbital or hand it's not hard , then another two cotes of under cote , the paint soaked through the bog solidifying it for the top cote , then sand smooth , mask out the gloss boarders paint them with top lac , two cotes , then I use Tredgrip. With rubber granules In the paint , it looks like 80 grit paper when finnished and last years , you never have to remove it it does it it's self when it's had enough and you just touch it up , I am doing the same at pres , I looked at the other deck grips with the textured rollers and concluded it will look flat in time , hold dirt , and won't make 17 years , nor hold me in 30 knots doing a sail change at 30 deg , Mine is still ok , the color is fine. Grip is fine discoloured a little ,in places I am not rubbing off the old paint just doing over it with the new. It works and looks good , its soft under foot and grips sea boots well scrubs clean if you stain it just roll on some more

Yes but we are on the right track But our wages Are not , going at the present rate we should all be bringing home around $1300 each week to save for the deposits , as we did back then my first was on main road orewa $37,000 $10,000 down $27,000 mortgage over 25 years on a single pay packet

Yes the pike river balls up .cost 29 lives, I remember the radio news called some expert in U.K. He said they must go in the next day to investergate or determine if recovery could happen as these men were 2. K away from the explosion but the police and Safety experts were saying its unsafe ,and even ,now a safe hole in the ground they won't go in , I would be very p,,ed off with my country if ny son was in there and the miners wanted to recover there mates and a bunch of brain washed clones standing in front of the cave saying no it's to dangerous there all dead , very Pi,,ed off , then some camera gets drilled into the cave and sees complete bodys in the explosion area laying there , I feel helpless for the family's suffering And suffer on this one my self still I hope the people get the chance to go in to at least finalise there wants ,

Bad things are happening at Gulf Harbour. How about $100 a day to store a Ross 40 mast?? I could add more, but it certainly looks like someone maximising profits. On the other hand, dealing with Brin Wilson and the other pros up there was nothing but a pleasure!!

"Darius DeWett has to stay in port until he can satisfy maritime authorities that the boat has sufficient safety gear on board, and that the yachtie himself can sail the boat."

I wonder if sailing from Napier to Whakatane would be enough to show he can sail?

The guy had the brains to anchor while weather looked suspect , as for vhf radios , mobile phone . If it's not turned on while cruising then tough his call , I turn my own mob off some times under way , eperb well we don't know if he has one , but that's his choice , unless he presses the button , there's no problem , skeds would had been a good idear each day even a tex , to a friend in his case , as for SAR , that does cost time and money , there call to search , there time , there cost , as a they say good training , but they had to say , wet wont be charging anyone , it's a great world , we boaties have these things for , space , the love of , piece and quiet , to be with nature, it's getting harder even on the water

The halyard runs around the block at the top, and is fastened at the drum. It runs externally down beside the foil. Excess can be removed or coiled at the base. The big advantage of these foils for a cruiser is the fact that the foil is split, and can be removed from the foredeck, without going aloft, and without removing or detaching the stay. Easy to self service, and basic design.
Sure, come have a look, just give me a call to make sure I'm here. 0221539176,

Myjane reacted to raz88 in 2nd hand yacht prices = ridiculous
I was in the same position a year or so back, bought then and have kept an eye on prices since as well.

My impression is that prices haven't dropped significantly in the last year, it seems to be more of a case that there are two sets of people selling - ones who actually want to sell and ones who want to hold out for a particular price.

Certainly a year ago when I was looking to buy, there were a few R930s and y88s in the $35-$45k range, a Chico 30 and davo 28 both asking low 20s, as well as a marauder and a E7.9 asking high teens. But there were some crazy high prices being asked for other boats. By and large, the good deals sold quickly, and the overpriced ones sat there, and in a number of cases are still for sale now.

From what I can see it's more or less the same now, there are some good deals on ones which are seriously for sale, but there are a lot of dreamers around as well, who are going to have to drop their asking price if they actually want to sell.
