  1. A contessa 26 I guess that may be the one we tendered off at Okahu bay 20 years ago with the side missing.
  2. Good accurate response, IT, people should be aware that most of harbour front Kawau is private property too.
  3. Yes I am in touch with one or two at Kawau they are sitting tight except for going out to empty holding tank, plenty of tucker not sure about water though, i can't for the life of me understand why police are telling individuals not to swim on the east coast as we are further apart than when walking past each other and if it is a part of our daily routine prior to all of this and we are walking to the beach on our own - just easy targets I guess the old grey haired swimmers.
  4. They do seem to be coming from Barrier or further north direction , but 44forty I will go with your local knowledge, on the other hand Michael Hill isn't that far north
  5. Why would helicopters be flying over the North Shore in and out of the Rosedale helipad between 2 and 3.30 am ? This has occurred the last few nights low altitude and very noisy!
  6. Which cruise ship is it that has been in forced isolation off Rangitoto since Wednesday , one of the Holland America lines maybe? Was it the one turned away from the port down south?
  7. A very basic design with shallow keel and not enough rudder in the water, hull looks too heavy and deck too light, ready to go I cant see it weighing what they predict, and if it does it will spend a lot of time lying on her side, there you go Mr Fagan...
  8. I was once a very good condition Raven called I think Joshua, a pity no one showed Annie how easily and well they sail in standard configuration! Reminds me of the Hiscocks on their last boat, no one showed them how slab reefing works so they reverted to what they knew old roller reefing and the consequent strange looking main shape.
  9. The York Syme is a good tug but has not had a lot of work recently

    Mahurangi 2020

Wont matter the committee couldnt tell who finished or not anyway.
  11. Just seen the wrap up of the IMOCA 60 season for 2019, cant wait to see these guys in the Ocean Race flying into Auckland
  12. And at Opua they have good size bins for everything which encourage accurate sorting and a clean BOI.
  13. Coming back from my annual Tall ships adventure (perfect weather yet again, thanks Christine and all those at Russell) you contemplate many things on the coast and one thing that struck me was the lack of flying fish in the last ten years, whats happened to them? I remember going up in the 70's and whole waves would explode with them -as in the tropics . Now I havent seen one for ages, except for circling an old blue ketch one year at the Barrier -no doubt attracted by the lights. Did see one just off Cape Rodney and he was very large, but with the abundance of other sea life something has
  14. Yes you wont beat Altex no 5 at Mahu, you are not the only one who has had issues with that International batch
  15. Just last week I sailed silently and carefully through Pipi/ Norwegian Bay in the BOI and a little chap came running to the bow of his anchored overgrown Riv type boat yelling that I cant do that as I went by ! Highly amusing -guessing that he was the decky/ skipper if so I would like to know where he got his ticket
  16. Thats a shame they used a picture of what appears to be an old Wylo 11 a great seagoing design.
  17. There was a major job done on her ten years ago, so it is likely that the bottom is different or modified from what the original build spec was.
  18. Left for North on Boxing day and nothing but glam weather in the Bay till I had to come home saturday -definitely less wind than you have had down here. Now got to contemplate bringing her home next weekend (with broken ribs).
  19. Re the Loxo 32, there is already a NZ version, used for commuting between Waiheke and the Barrier, goes a bit faster than the french one as outboard powered
  20. What occurred? first one I have missed in over 10 years

    Refrigeration

You are not alone, since repowering I have not recommissioned my old compressor set up just used a Waeco 40 and we are used to the constant cold and low low draw so contemplating converting my large freezer and well insulated fridge to one of these electric set ups.
  22. I did the figures on a Lidgard yacht that sailed away many years ago. It was not exported just sailed out , if I purchased it in the Med and sailed her home got confirmation in writing that there was no GST payable. On re-entry as it was paid when built- and a registered NZ yacht.
  23. If NZ built and registered no GST on returning craft.
