Hi folks, I was talking to a rigger recently who was cautioning me about insurance companies not paying out if you have a rigging/mast failure and you haven't got a current (>10 years) inspection. Our insurance company have never requested this, but this of course doesn't mean that they won't try to use it to wiggle out of a payout. Does anyone know if there is truth to this? Cheers Al

    Dyneema Rigging

    At replacement time, are people replacing their wire rigging with Dyneema type rigging? Would you? What are the cons and pros? On paper, it seems like a no brainer.
  3. I have a few questions about rigging. I am replacing the standing and running rigging on a Nebe Miura 31 http://sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=7591 Masthead sloop. The boom/mainsail foot, is about a foot longer than the designer specified.   4. I apologise in advance to all the old hands because you have no doubt discussed this to death but if you could just give me the benefit of your experience I would be very grateful.... I am intending installing galvanised wire rigging 1770 to all the latest uk bs codes. I intend putting 10mm everywhere except on the lower shrouds on the mizzen where it will be 8mm. I intend using a steel or aluminium nicopress swage. My mast is Aluminium and my rigging screws are SS so I will ensure that any galv touching a dissimilar metal will be isolated.
