Euphoria - The adventure begins.

One awesome way to finish up the summer!

A hot fine Saturday afternoon on the sparkling Waitemata harbour.

We were only out for a few hours, but chased and almost caught

the Green Death Trap on the way home. We saw a top speed of 12 knots just west of the naval dock.

Pretty surprising considering the wind was only about 10 knots and the boat needs a scrub.

haha

i'll chalk that up as our first victory then

we did see you coming up the harbor proudly flying your OEM pinhead

have just bought Capricorn from Simone + Andrew

and yesterday was them showing my how to sail it

with close to a combined age of 100? i don't think Cap and i will be racing in the 8.5m class

not this first year anyway as she gets optimized for solo use + i remain scared of hoisting the assym solo

don't you love those Tucker beams

will have to start thinking of selling vindil

and finding a good small multi mooring in okahu

Haha thats one for ya.

It was our first actual family sail where the weather played ball. Not much screaming from the littlies and the eldest daughter actually enjoying it.

Baby slept on the tramp wrapped in my jacket for the ride back up.

Apparently the old pinhead still has some drive in it, although probably last thing on my job list is shape the battens, even after the gennaker and reef points :-D

good to see you out there

only mentioned the main as thought it was voom from a distance

until noticed it was pointy at the top

lucky you to get the family out

1 of the reasons i gave up multi speed for keeler comfort was for the family

but it seems that what i consider an affordable keeler they don't consider a comfortable one

so if going to be saling solo

it may as well be quick

shouldn't be hard to double range

Funny thing is, family were quite happy in the little 16 foot trailer yacht, being pushed hard, even in quite nasty manukau stuff.

I think part of the problem now is the chaotic water thrown up by all the launches and ferries, so once we get past north head things should improve.

Especially once I get Gina a drysuit, she's not keen on the "rising damp" when the waves hit the outboard pod.
